The Best Songs of 2026
Rank these on what will last rather than what was loudest in March, because singles turn over faster than albums do. A song has to be a 2026 release, then clear the sourcing rule, which is where nearly everything falls: two or more of Rolling Stone, Consequence, NPR and BuzzFeed have to have named it on a 2026 songs list, or it reached the Billboard Hot 100. One song per lead artist. Three tiers, and the vote orders inside them. Songs two or more of those lists doubled up on go first. Then songs that peaked in the Hot 100 top ten. Then songs that peaked lower. A song sits in the first tier it qualifies for, and where an artist qualifies twice the higher tier keeps the slot. Where the two arms split they split hard: Consequence ranked Harry Styles's Aperture one hundredth at mid-year, and it had debuted at number one on the Hot 100. Links go to the studio original, never a remix, edit, alternate version or karaoke cut. Anything that clears the gate can join.

Lip Critic are an electro punk band, and Jackpot is the second track on their second album. Rolling Stone put it tenth of forty seven, Consequence fifteenth of a hundred. Partisan Records issued it as a single on 11 March 2026, seven weeks before Theft World arrived on 1 May.

Olivia Rodrigo released the cure as the second single off her 2026 album. It reached number five on the Hot 100, Consequence gave it position twenty, and BuzzFeed named it as well. Geffen dates the single 22 May 2026 and the album 12 June, where the song sits at track eight.

Charli xcx named this after a fashion season, spring summer 2026, and built a song that expires on schedule and then refuses to. Rolling Stone made it number one of forty seven; Consequence had it thirty first. The single carries a date of 21 May 2026, two months ahead of the album that also holds it.

Juvenile & Megan Thee Stallion — B.B.B. (2026)
Juvenile has been making records since the Cash Money years, and B.B.B. sets him beside Megan Thee Stallion with neither stepping down a gear. Eleventh on Rolling Stone, fifty third on Consequence. The single is dated 27 February 2026 and carries a radio edit as its second track.

BossMan Dlow — Motion Party (2026)
BossMan Dlow talks over a beat more than he raps on it, and Motion Party is the clearest case of it in his catalogue. Consequence placed it seventy sixth of a hundred, Rolling Stone fourteenth. A single dated 13 March 2026; a remix with Megan Thee Stallion came out later as its own separate release.

Kelela — idea 1 (2026)
Kelela has spent a decade making R&B mixed for a room with no corners, and idea 1 went out alone on 8 April 2026. Rolling Stone listed it thirty fourth of forty seven and Consequence thirty fifth of a hundred, which look like the same number and are not: one is the bottom third of a short list, the other the top third of a long one.

Lana Del Rey — White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter (2026)
Lana Del Rey gave this a title long enough to pass for a line out of it. NPR named it in a personal top ten, and Rolling Stone placed it thirty first of forty seven. Dated 17 February 2026, it has stayed a standalone release with no album attached to it.

Social Distortion have been at this since 1978, and Born To Kill is the title track of an album dated 8 May 2026. Twenty eighth of forty seven at one outlet, fifty fourth of a hundred at the other, which lands the song in almost the same place on both lists once their lengths are accounted for.

Gracie Abrams keeps writing songs that sound like the end of a long night, and Hit the Wall is a sharp one. Near the floor of Rolling Stone's forty seven, at number forty four. BuzzFeed named it too, on a rundown that says outright it runs in no particular order. The recording is dated 14 May 2026.

Holly Humberstone put To Love Somebody third on Cruel World, an album dated 10 April 2026. It placed forty first on Rolling Stone, and BuzzFeed picked it out too. A great many other records carry that title, going back decades, which is what makes this one awkward to point at precisely.

Bruno Mars had never debuted a song at number one until this one did it. Rolling Stone put it eighth of forty seven, which is one naming rather than two, so it does not sit with the doubled songs. Atlantic dated it 9 January 2026, lead single from The Romantic, and the album followed on 27 February.

Harry Styles opened 2026 with Aperture, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and on the UK singles chart. Consequence ranked it one hundred of a hundred. Erskine and Columbia put it out on 23 January 2026, ahead of an album dated 6 March.

BTS — SWIM (2026)
BTS came back with SWIM and it debuted at number one, their sixth song to enter that chart in the top position. Consequence gave it seventy seventh of a hundred. Within four weeks the song also existed as an instrumental and as seven member remixes, gathered on a release called Keep Swimming.

Ariana Grande — hate that i made you love me (2026)
Ariana Grande entered at number one with this, her tenth chart topper. It then appeared as an a cappella, an instrumental, a Live from Rehearsal take, a Music Video Edit, a Melody Pass Version, an Ari Lyric Draft from Bed, a Guitars Only mix and a Stripped version. petal, the album it belongs to, is dated 31 July 2026.

Drake — Janice STFU (2026)
Drake put Janice STFU fourth on Iceman on 15 May 2026, and it went straight to number one. It appears on none of the four lists. Within a fortnight the song was pushed out again on its own, so more than one 2026 release carries the same recording.

Ella Langley — Be Her (2026)
Ella Langley went to country radio with Be Her on 23 March 2026 and it peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. Hot Country Songs took it to two and Country Airplay to eight. It sits sixth on Dandelion, released 10 April, and was the second single pulled from that album.

sombr — Homewrecker (2026)
Sombr released Homewrecker on 5 February 2026 through Warner Records and his own SMB imprint, his first single after the debut album. It peaked at number nineteen on the Billboard Hot 100. Twentieth on Rolling Stone, and that is the only one of the four lists to pick it up.

Bella Kay had never charted on the Hot 100 before iloveitiloveitiloveit peaked at number seventeen, and it went to number two in the UK. It sat thirty eighth of forty seven on Rolling Stone. Dated 11 January 2026, the song comes from her second EP, A Couple Minutes Out.
