Two men posing as policemen rang the buzzer on 18 March 1990, said they were investigating a disturbance, and got in. The robbery lasted 81 minutes, with both guards taped and handcuffed to a steam pipe in the basement. The case is unsolved, no arrests have been made, and no works have been recovered. Werner is the sole person ever convicted — the money and jewelry have never been recovered, and James Burke, alleged to have ordered the murders of many co-conspirators, was never officially charged.

A stolen Bell 206 JetRanger put down on the roof of a G4S cash depot in southern Stockholm at 05:15 on 23 September 2009. Three or four men broke a reinforced glass pyramid with a sledgehammer to get in, while caltrops sat on the roads outside and decoy bombs sat at the police helicopter hangar. Seven men went to prison in October 2010 and three were cleared — the kr 39 million loot was never recovered.

Gunmen held the families of two bank officials hostage, and the gang made the officials themselves help empty the Belfast headquarters of £26.5 million on 20 December 2004. It kept in touch with the two men using mobile phones it had given them. Police impounded £2.3 million at the house of financial adviser Ted Cunningham, who was convicted of laundering — nobody has ever been held directly responsible for the robbery.

A lookout on a rooftop stayed in contact by walkie-talkie. Security guard Anthony Black opened Unit 7 on the Heathrow International Trading Estate on 26 November 1983, then identified his brother-in-law Brian Robinson as a robber and drew six years himself. The men poured petrol over the staff and threatened them with a lit match for the vault combinations, then found three tonnes of pure gold bullion in 6,800 bars outside the main vault. Covering the green light with a glove and powering the red one from a battery stopped the Glasgow-to-London travelling post office at Sears Crossing on 8 August 1963. One robber coshed the driver, Jack Mills, from behind. £2.61 million went and less than £400,000 was eventually recovered; prints overlooked on a ketchup bottle and a Monopoly set at Leatherslade Farm helped, and seven of the gang drew 30 years.

Six elderly men went down a lift shaft over the Easter bank holiday weekend of 2015 and used a Hilti DD350 power drill to bore through vault walls 50 cm thick. Police were told the burglar alarm had been triggered on 3 April and did not respond, so the gang came back the next night. Nobody was hurt or threatened. Of a haul valued at up to £14 million, £4.3 million has been recovered — all six pleaded guilty.

Keys carried by regional safety inspector Allen Pace got six men into the Dunbar Armored facility on Mateo St. in downtown Los Angeles on 12 September 1997, and US$18.9 million left with them. Pace had timed the security cameras first. What unravelled it was Hill paying a friend, a real estate broker, with a stack of cash bound together with the original branded currency straps. Less than a third came back — Pace drew 24 years.

Fire on the nearby Augustus Bridge destroyed a power box early on 25 November 2019, and the resulting outage disabled streetlights and security alarms at the Green Vault inside Dresden Castle. Thieves cut through iron bars around a window, then smashed the display glass with an axe. Thirty-one of the items were returned after lawyers for six suspects in custody disclosed where they were — a Dresden court convicted five members of the Remmo family in May 2023.
